Our Summer Stars Reading Programme is now underway. We are busy planning lots of free activities for children to participate in during the summer months.

Summer Stars is the public library national summer reading programme for children that runs until the end of August. All children throughout the county are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summerSummer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads even one book/e-book is regarded as having completed the programme – and it’s all completely free!
All you have to do is visit the library with your child and register them. Children who register will receive activity books, book marks, bags and pencils for taking part. It’s all free!
Children can read or listen to books, e-books, e-audiobooks, graphic novels, comics and magazines. Take a look at the selection of e-books, e-audiobooks and children’s magazines available through BorrowBox here.
Participating in the Summer Stars programme will keep your child reading during the school holidays and ensure that they maintain their reading levels while not at school. This is especially important for new readers and children who are just starting to read independently.
Take a look at our events page on our website for lots of free activities throughout the summer.
