Patrons and staff in Killaloe Library are already fortunate that their library is in one of the most beautiful settings in Clare and possibly even in Ireland. Now visitors and library users have full accessibility to the library with the recent installation of accessible doors and a ramp there.

This will mean that all users, parents with buggies, wheelchair users and anyone using mobility aids will now be able to access the library there.

The Library is the Place: Information, Recreation, Inspiration 2023-2027,  the national strategy for libraries in Ireland sets out to improve access, use and visibility of public libraries as an essential community resource. Clare Libraries has endeavoured to improve accessibility to library buildings in recent years. Accessible and sensory gardens have been established in Ennistymon, Kilkee and Shannon libraries. Works have also recently taken place in Newmarket-on Fergus Library to improve accessibility there.

Thanks to staff in the Social Directorate in Clare County Council for all their assistance in getting the works completed.
