Headstone Restoration Glasnevin Cemetery

Post by s1nead »

In June 2017, the American descendants of Mary Milward Reilly joined together to restore her headstone in Glasnevin Cemetery.
Although none of us had ever known her, Mary Reilly's 14 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren participated in this Cousins' Project out of the love, respect and gratitude in which we all hold our grandfather (and great grandfather). Patrick Henry Reilly (1886-1960).
RIP

Mary Frances Milward Reilly lived in Ennis & Ennistymon her entire life. Widowed at 39 years of age in 1894, she moved to Dublin with her only child in about 1900.
We do not know her reasons for leaving her comfortable home in the country for the city life of Dublin.
However, it has been suggested that she feared the Land League violence in Clare since her husband's were all landowners.

I have written about her in my Reilly Family History Blog
