For those researching the Clare horse-and-carriage set here's a resource: a list of the "...hundred largest ratepayers..." (see http://eppi.dippam.ac.uk/documents/1750 ... ges/469383 and the following 3 pages for the County Clare entries).
These are, of course, not necessarily the largest ratepayers - some might have been quite small and wiry - but they will be the hundred most heavily contributing at that time.
