John Francis McKeane

Post by charlton »

Trying to get information about my Great Great Grandfather who was born in Ennistymon about 1819.
Have a birth date of 23rd January from someone.
He was married to a Catherine and had 2 daughters Mary and Katherine and a son John Thomas who died at 1 year old. I think they were all born in Devonport, England as he was a Soldier/Sailor.
I have the Birth Certificate of my Great Grandmother Mary and it says her mother was nee Beirdes, but that name is not recognised anywhere. Could be an error.
I hope that they were married in Ireland as I have her as being born about 1840 in Ireland.
Can anyone trace this marriage ?
He was a Bandsman on HMP Formidable in 1866 when Mary was born.
Incidentally, Mary has been called McKene and McKane on various documents.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks Paddy :)
I have a Birth Certificate for John Thomas McKeane 1879 who died within a year.
His mother was shown clearly as Katherine Baird, so that solves that part, but would appreciate a Wedding notification.

Thanks Mo,
Will check out the Marine Band.
So confusing the different spelling of the name, but I suppose most could not read or write.
Really appreciate your help and great information.
