Ennistymon House & The MacNamara Family

For two generations, my family served as Land Agents for the MacNamara Family of Ennistymon House.
Patrick Edward Reilly (1799-1872) was employed by Col Francis MacNamara from 1863 until his death in 1872.
He was also "Justice of the Peace" in 1870 .......
He was known as "The Terror" because of his "enthusiasm" in collecting rents and evictions ....


His son, Henry Patrick (1838-1894) was a Solicitor (1864) with Law Offices in Ennistymon & Dublin but also became MacNamara Land Agent in 1883 ......

Just wondering where I might find more historic information about this period of time in Ennistymon ....

Ennistymon is in the civil parish of Kilmanaheen so your first port of call should be the Kilmanaheen parish page on the Clare Library website at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... naheen.htm where you will find links to a lot of historical material on Ennistymon and the surrounding area.

I see there is a google search' on www.clarelibrary.ie - - on the top bar - and when you put in Ennistymon you will find lots of info to keep you reading for a month !! esp. about the McNamaras. !!
