Doon Cemetery

Post by Maurice Hanrahan »

Could anyone provide further information the cemetery at Doon, Calluragh (next to Ballinruan) within the Crusheen/Inchicronan parish.

Around what date did it commence and is there any listing of burials there?

Sincerely

Maurice

The Doon graveyard that Maurice Hanrahan was looking for (and I’m sure has found by now) is not the Doon in Broadford, but the Doon (also called Doonmulvihill) in the parish of Inchicronan (Crusheen). But the article posted by mgallery, “Three Roads to Ennis 1844,” by James Fraser, is worth reading anyway. Only the houses of the gentry are of interest to Mr. Fraser. The Wellesley Bridge, by which Mr Fraser leaves Limerick and enters Co. Clare, was later renamed Sarsfield Bridge.
