Rath and Kilnaboy Baptisms 1837 - 1862

Here is my transcription of the Rath and Kilnaboy Baptisms 1837 – 1862. It was very difficult in places, especially in the early 1840s – the frequent question marks show how often I stared hard, but failed to decipher – and there are probably just as many times when I made mistakes quite unknowingly. I feel sure I confused Kenny with Kearny, Kearse with Keane, Leo with Lee, Cummane with Cunneen, etc. I wondered at times if what I was doing was more of a hindrance than a help to researchers. But decided to go ahead and fill the gap until a more authoritative version appeared.

Edited Nov. 10, 2017 to include columns for page number (as online) and for entry numbers. I also deleted the Residence attachment to make space for new attachments.

Thanks Sheila, this is great work. I particularly like being able to search by townland, which is very useful, given the idiosyncratic spelling of some surnames by the priests!

Thank you. I'm thinking I might have also confused Leaden and Leader. And the townlands also are spelled in such a variety of ways - when I thought every variation of Baunkyle must have been used, I found Banquil. I think a more user-friendly version of the transcription is needed. One version of the townland name, one version of the surname, etc., would be helpful - and no Latin names. There were a couple of fulminations by the priest which I did not attempt to translate.
