I am trying to trace the family of John O'Regan born 1818 in Ennis, Clare, father John O'Regan, merchant, and Thomas O'Regan born 1821, co. Clare, father John O'Regan, merchant (information from Alumni Dublinensis for both). I believe John (jr) and Thomas were brothers and I'm looking for evidence to confirm my belief. There is a listing for a John O'Regan, Corn merchant, on Mill Street, Ennis in Pigot's directory of 1824. John O'Regan (jr) attended Trinity College, Dublin 1841-1846 and became Archdeacon of Kildare. He married Helen Eliza Amelia Hamilton in 1869 at Church of St. Patrick, Trim. Thomas O'Regan also attended Trinity College Dublin 1840-1845, emigrated to England and became Vicar of St. Matthew's, Donington Wood, Shropshire. He married Elizabeth Bateman whose birthplace is listed as O'Kerry, Ireland in the England census but I haven't been able to find the date and location of the marriage, although their first child was born in Shropshire in 1848 so likely they married sometime prior to then. I have the listings from Alumni Dublinensis for both John (jr) and Thomas, and Crockfords Directory for Thomas but cannot find any birth or baptismal records to prove they are brothers. All help would be much appreciated. Tom

Update - Thomas O'Regan married Elizabeth Bateman on 24 Sep 1845 at Booterstown church, witnesses were John O'Regan and Rowland Bateman. I do not know if the witness John O'Regan is the father or the brother. The Alumni Dublinensis records both John (Jr) and Thomas as Roman Catholic upon entry, however upon leaving TCD, John became a cleric in the Church of Ireland and Thomas in the Church of England. Is this typical for the time period? I believe they had other siblings named Maria, Michael, Ellen, Ann, James, Charles, Terence, William and Alice; some of whom emigrated to America prior to the Civil War. Any information/assistance/help much appreciated! Tom
