Thanks to Clare Libraries for making History Week talks available online

I’ve been listening to this year's History Week talks and found each one very interesting - see https://clarelibraries.ie/projects/history_programme/. Of special interest to me was Lucille Ellis’s talk on High Street and Parnell Street; some years ago I spent a good while trying to find where High Street began and ended, without success, but she makes it all quite clear.
I accidentally came upon a talk by Peter Connell, ‘The Government wants a terrible lot of light: clearing the slums in Kilrush 1922-1939’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyCtf7HaG_g .This talk was given last year in History Week 2024, but I somehow missed it. I was glad to have found it as it was all new information for me and I found the reactions of the tenants very interesting. Their grievances are enlarged upon in the question and answer session at the end, so don’t leave too soon.
