During the exam season staff at De Valera Library has been delighted to welcome hundreds of students every day. The library boasts a variety of seating arrangements to facilitate the differing needs of the students.

Some students prefer casual seating whilst others love our shared study tables. Our individual PODs are available for students who need to undertake an online study session or a team meeting.

The library has designated 100+ seats to support students at this busy time with all seats being consistently filled every day.

County Librarian Helen Walsh: “One of our success stories in the new library to date has been the accommodation of 2nd and 3rd level students who we were unable to serve to any great extent in our old library. It has been heartening to see the queues of students outside our doors each morning on the run up to the exams – eagerly awaiting to acquire their spot for a few hours of study. These students are our next generation of library users, many of whom will go on to use 3rd level academic libraries for study and research and I hope will remember with some fondness the good experiences they had in using their local library. We wish all our student’s success in their exams and look forward to welcoming a new cohort of students back again in the Autumn”

When asked why they were using the library to study, one Leaving Cert student commented “when everyone else is studying it gets me motivated to study as well”.

Junior Certificate students said, “there is easy access to computers and laptops” and “it is a quite space to study”.

Everyone at De Valera Library would like to extend their best wishes to all students undertaking state exams.
