De Valera Library & Súil Gallery feature in the March-April issue of Architecture Today in a piece by Louise Cotter.
The article explores the history of Ennis town and the architecture of some of the town’s historic buildings and how the new library fits in the environs. In describing the buildings, Louise, draws attention to the details incorporated by Keith Williams Architects. The ‘dramatic’ staircase at the heart of the building, the carefully curated furniture and the signature Williams cladding on the exterior of the building.
Louise Cotter also speaks about the importance of libraries within the framework of towns and cities across the country. In keeping with Clare County Council’s vision, these buildings have undoubtedly ‘consolidated and expanded’ Ennis town’s cultural quarter.
